SESCA is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Recognised Training Centre that offers formal dinghy training courses to Club Members.  More details about the courses approved by the RYA can be found here.

The club has a Training Principal and several members who are RYA instructors/coaches.

Training is organised for adults, beginners and children and can be run in your own boat, a club boat or a boat belonging to a club member. There is also race training throughout the season.

What about children?

The club actively encourages under-18 youths to join and learn to sail. RYA training courses for youths are typically held during school holidays.

The club operates a family-led Youth Sailing Group on Saturday mornings where the youngsters get free use of the club boats to encourage the to extend their sailing skills. A number of the youths also regularly participate in the club racing sessions on Sunday mornings.

Within the club there are also the following Youth Groups: Sea Cadets; Suffolk Scouts; Priory School and Young People Afloat (YPA). YPA offers weekly meetings and tuition to all levels plus RYA courses in their fleet of Optimists, Toppers, Picos, Fevas and Wanderers.
