#DiscoverSailing & Kayaking Open Day

Add Headings and they will appear in your table of contents.

SESCA's Club Open Day is being held on Sunday, 8 May 2022 from 10.30am - 4 pm, at Lackford Lake, 5 miles NW of Bury St Edmunds.

The event forms part of the RYA's (Royal Yachting Association) 'Discover Sailing' initiative to encourage everyone to get out on the water and try sailing and boating.

It is a great opportunity for members of the public to come along to the Club and try their hand at sailing, kayaking and/or stand up paddleboarding for FREE.

Weather permitting, taster sessions and joy rides will be run on an as available basis. Buoyancy aids will be provided but please bring soft soled shoes, a towel and a change of clothes if you want to sail - as you may get wet.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to take out children under 7 years old. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No dogs are permitted on the site, as the Club is located in a Nature Reserve.

SESCA is a small, family orientated club which runs on-water events from the last weekend in March until early November. The Club organises dinghy racing on Sundays and Thursday evenings throughout the summer. The Club also runs RYA sailing courses and coaching sessions for members.

A fleet of Club boats is available for hire to members, so it is not necessary to own your own dinghy, kayak or SUP if you want to sail or paddle.

The Club is also host to the Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Mildenhall Sea Cadets; Young People Afloat (a sailing youth club); Suffolk Scouts' watersport activities and WASH Sailability (disabled sailing).

Whether you are interested in dinghy sailing (pottering or racing); canoeing; kayaking; stand up paddleboarding or just like the great outdoors, you are most welcome to visit the Club to see what we have to offer.

If you would like to find out more about the Club, you are most welcome to visit any weekend or e-mail: sesca.admin@gmail.com

Visitors will be requested to complete Registration and, if necessary, Parental / Guardian Consent and Medical Condition Forms before going afloat. These can be viewed and downloaded here. You are invited to print off and complete the forms in advance to save time at Registration on the day.
