Youth sailing

This year (2019), in addition to the sailing activities of the Sea Cadets, Young People Afloat and the Suffolk Scouts, we are proposing to run a series of Sunday afternoon Youth Sailing sessions. This is partly in response to the recent influx of new family members with children but also to encourage more Cadet members to join the Club.

The sessions will provide a regular time when younger members can meet up to sail together, improve their skills and have fun.
The format of the sessions will depend on the numbers that turn up and the age range.  It is likely to include:
  • Some skills coaching
  • On the water games
  • Mini races
  • Social sailing
This will be a parent led activity and a parent or guardian will need to come along and help supervise the sessions.
The proposed dates are:
    21 April at 2pm
    19 May at 2pm
    30 June at 2pm
    28 July at 2pm  (Commodore's Fun Day)
    4 Aug at 2pm
    6 Oct at 2 pm

These dates can also be found on the SESCA website calendar We expect the sessions to last approximately 2 hours.

Please note that these sessions have yet to be confirmed and will depend on the level of interest and the availability of adults to supervise the sessions.
We will also be holding a Junior Regatta on Sunday, 15 September and are planning to RYA Cadet stages 1& 2 courses. The dates have yet to be finalised. Please contact sesca.admin for further details and to register interest.
