Saturday Session

The second Team Race Training Session started in blustery conditions, which made it prudent to sail the Toppers with  one turn of reef. This allowed the skippers to concentrate more on tactics and manoeuvres rather than boat handling and survival. Nonetheless, there were a few capsizes and several close escapes. It was evident that the participants had been reading the training notes that they were given after the first session, as there was obviously more tactical awareness and close quarter action. In the afternoon the wind abated a little, allowing new member William Fisher to launch his Firefly for the first time and take it for a spin around the Lake. He came ashore with a broad grin! It was also good to see a couple of Mirrors out on the water and enjoying the fresh breeze.
