In hot pursuit!

The warm, sunny conditions brought a good turn out for the Thursday evening pursuit race with three new members on the water. Gary Tompkins led home from Abby Freeley and Mike Steele, all sailing Lasers, followed by Chris Seears and his grand daughter, sailing a National 12.

A return to colder weather at the weekend wasn’t sufficient to quash enthusiasm. A number of keen new members were seen out sailing on Saturday, in company with the disabled sailors from WASH Sailability. On Sunday, several families ventured out, alongside the regular Club racers, who were competing in SESCA’s summer series.

The racing was close in each of the three races, with Kieron Adams (Laser Radial); Carl Day & Fliss Elsom-Cooke (Enterprise) and Mike Steele (Laser) sharing the points. In the final pursuit race, Geoff Morris, sailing his Solo, held the lead until the closings seconds, when he was eventually overtaken by Mike Steele, sailing the faster Laser. A very close and exciting finish.
